Hôtel Courbet

Very friendly. Our room had a deck with a pretty good view. One guy speaks excellent English, the rest try and do pretty well. The towels smelled stale as did the bedding. I asked them not to change the bed and towels, which they were confused by (why would you not want clean towels!) The room smelled much better after a week of airing it out and not changing the bedding. Also the shower is hand-held so you have to wash with one hand or take a bath. The bath was comfortable and clean. Breakfast is yogurt, croissants, bread, and coffee or tea for 9€. They have refrigerators in the room so I stopped at the grocery across the street and we became friendly with one of the pastry shop owners - yum! Lots to do in the area. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

One other reviewer said that it's more like a three star hotel than a two. You know, I agree! There's these two very nice and friendly fellows who run the hotel. I hope they own it. While I was there in early September, I met lots of people who come back every year. There was this one dame (loved her!!) who kept putting her sun hat on over her glasses still on the top of her head. The nice fellow always politely helped her out. That's the way things are at the Hotel Courbet. I'm a New Yorker (Manhattan) and normally don't deal with breakfast. (My first meal is around 3:00 p.m.), but I did see a lovely breakfast spread out for those who partake. The bed was the most comfortable one I've slept on in a long time. Hear that, Four Seasons?? It's seriously less than a half-block from the beach. And a very, VERY easy stroll back from the madness of the Pam Pam and the killer sundaes at Le Crystal. There is a good elevator. And the hotel is quiet. There are only three or four other rooms on your floor. I was glad that I booked a room with a lovely balcony which afforded a decent but partial view of the sea and those yachts! WHO are those people on those monstrous boats? Do they ever come ashore? I want to meet them! Let's see what else. Oh! The hotel is just a really short walk to the JLP train station. Bottom line: I'd go back to the Courbet.
